As someone who has worked and volunteered in the not-for-profit and social sector in Calgary for 21 years, Cesar understands the vital role that public services play in the lives of every day Albertans.
Not only has Cesar spent much of his professional life giving back to his community, he has also been a tireless volunteer. His work has included supporting newcomer communities, persons with developmental disabilities, civic engagement and community development. Cesar’s experiences have shown him that people and communities must be at the centre of strong economic and social policies.
Most recently, he was employed with the Office of the Deputy Premier, and he spent over eleven years working for the United Way of Calgary, and three years with the Calgary Foundation. A true leader, Cesar has also been involved in the founding of numerous organizations including the Sunrise Community Link Resource Centre, the Ethno Cultural Council of Calgary, Children’s Legal and Educational Resource Centre and the Asian Heritage Foundation.
Cesar is committed to building welcoming, safe and diverse neighbourhoods. He lives in Calgary with his wife, they have two children and three grandchildren.
